According to Rostec’s press service, the delivery was carried out ahead of schedule. The company’s engineers analyzed recent combat experiences, including conflicts in Ukraine, to enhance the BMP-3 models. As a result, the new BMP-3s are now equipped with standard protection kits, upper hemisphere protection, and “Nakidka” systems to reduce visibility.

The standard protection kit provides armor against attacks from any direction, while the upper hemisphere protection guards against aerial threats such as rocket grenades launched by drones. Meanwhile, the “Nakidka” covers, made of thermo-insulating and radio-absorbing material, decrease the vehicles’ visibility against detection by thermal devices.

Bekhan Ozdoev, Industrial Director of Rostec’s Cluster of Conventional Arms and Special Chemistry, emphasized the importance of the enhancements: “Rostec produces a wide range of weapons and military equipment, including the modernized BMD-4M and BMP-3. With the shipment of this new batch, we significantly strengthen the vehicles’ protection. The BMP-3s have not only received additional armor but also ‘Nakidka’ covers, which reduce visibility in thermal and radio spectrums, enhancing the vehicles’ combat survivability.”

In addition to combat vehicles, Kurganmashzavod also produced, ahead of schedule, additional protection kits for BMP-2 vehicles, including anti-cumulative grids and armor screens, further bolstering the defense of equipment already in the field.
